One of Blue Pearl’s earliest and most unique clients came to us with a specialized consumer product that had been successfully distributed locally. But, the company did not have the resources to expand the product to a broader market, despite their local success.
Blue Pearl started from scratch, conducting market and product analysis to determine the positioning of the product in the current marketplace. While the product fit nicely within a defined space on the grocery store shelf, the space was crowded and competition was growing. We needed to determine if there was room for this product, and how to position it as really different from the competition.
Blue Pearl worked extensively with the owner of the product to understand not only the current offerings, but the capabilities of the company to develop additional flavors and mixes to keep the brand current and unique, driving new and updated demand from its customer base, and keeping retailers interested in allotting shelf space to the brand. At the same time, we vetted numerous co-manufacturers capable of supplying quality ingredients, packaging materials, warehousing, and order processing to ensure supply consistency.
The product is currently on the shelves of regional specialty retailers, and is gaining significant ground in national grocery retailers.
